How to beat the Winter blues
Winter can take its toll on your wellbeing. Whether it’s in your working or personal life, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed as the days grow short and the weather turns cold. Here are six easy tips on how to combat the winter blues:
A daily walk
Getting into the habit of a daily walk in the middle of the day is a certain path to feeling better. It helps you clear your mind, order your thoughts, and get your blood flowing. Exercise is a natural stress buster, so if the weather is reasonable and you can make the time, harness your energy and get walking.
Keep warm and relax
It’s important to stay toasty and remember the “you” time. Whether it’s watching movies, listening to music, reading, or just having a daydream by the fireplace. Wrap up in your favourite blanket or sweater, turn the heating up, and indulge yourself in your favourite hobbies.
Eat healthy, eat plenty
There’s nothing in Winter like a delicious soup or stew. The great thing about them is that you can prepare a large portion in advance and fridge/freezer the rest. So you always have a hearty, healthy meal ready for whenever you need it. We have a Nutrition program called Intuitive Eating that can help you do just that.
Take up a new hobby
Over Winter you can feel the urge to shut down your urge to learn new things. There’s not much light in the day and the weather is horrible, but that doesn’t mean you can’t learn something new. If the weather is keeping you indoors, that’s time you could be using to develop a new hobby.
Make time for others
Friends and family are a perfect way to keep your positive energy through the colder months. You don’t need an excuse to see those you love the most. If you’re feeling that stress is getting you down, remember to talk about it to others.
Create a 2019 vision board
Where are you going in the New Year? What do you want to achieve? How are you going to get there? A vision board is a perfect way to keep you on track to your goals. Think about what you want to happen, and start formulating your plans to get there now!
